The direct receiver APK is live. Package app.canvasrelay.tv supports Android TV 5.1 (API 22) and newer, targets API 34, and uses the hardened hosted player inside a native TV shell.

2. Allow this installation source
On Google TV, open Settings → Apps → Security & Restrictions or Special app access → Install unknown apps. Allow only the app opening the APK, install Canvas Relay, then turn that permission off again.

3. Pair the receiver
Launch Canvas Relay on the TV. Enter the displayed six-digit code in Screens → Add screen, name the TV, and assign a published board. The TV opens directly into its saved screen on later launches.

Optional ADB install
ADB is optional and intended for technical installers. Enable Developer options and debugging only for that method, run adb install -r with the APK, then disable debugging after installation.

TV remote controls
Use the D-pad and OK to operate controls. During playback, Back opens resume, screen-switching, and forget/re-pair controls. Menu or Info opens diagnostics.

01Is the Canvas Relay Google TV receiver in Google Play?+
Not yet. Canvas Relay Google TV 0.1.1 is a signed direct-download beta APK. Install it from canvasrelay.app and enable Install unknown apps only for the file-transfer, browser, or file-manager app used to open it.
02Do I need Android developer mode?+
Developer mode is not required for normal sideloading from a file on the TV. It is needed only if you choose the optional ADB installation method, which requires Developer options and USB or network debugging.
03How do I connect the receiver to Canvas Relay?+
Open the installed TV app, read its six-digit code, then enter that code under Screens → Add screen in the Canvas Relay dashboard. Choose a name and board; later app launches retain the pairing.
04Is Canvas Relay Pilot the same APK?+
No. Package app.canvasrelay.tv is the Google TV Player. Canvas Relay Pilot uses package app.canvasrelay.companion and is the separate phone and tablet management app. Install the package intended for that device.
